RE: FPS Lock
Hey, I know this is a problem with emulation in general, but is there a way to a) bypass the FPS lock, and if so, b) not speed up the entire game?
I've been trying to play some WipEout Pure, but 30 FPS is simply not that enjoyable at phantom class. I know my chances of getting to play it above that limit are most likely nonexistent, but what's the harm in asking right? |

:O
Thanks! WO's not listed, but it gives me a bit of hope; will test some methods. |

RE: RE: FPS Lock
WO doesn't have an FPS lock at 30 - did you downclock the PSP emulation?

RE: RE: FPS Lock
Just to note: playing on an i3-2100/nVidia GT430 with the Euro version of WipEout Pure on PPSSPP 0.9.1-1905-g8070210; and regarding CPU cycles, I'd had it set at 400-500 typically, but it's currently set to 333 after seeing it as an option in the previously linked thread. It doesn't seem to make any difference at all even when compared to the default rate.
Actually, it seems I didn't do a thorough test and now find things becoming stranger: I only turned the FPS counter on while I was playing in "free play", and that was locked in at 30. In races, though, I get 60. For some reason I can't seem to break 60 even with the frame limiter disabled, and in testing this I've tried both enabling and disabling V-sync in both the nVidia control panel and in PPSSPP, getting the same results while playing the track Porto Kora (free DLC pack track, but with less thorough testing the same issue exists regardless of track) in both single race vs 7 AI ships and in free race, which is just one ship and one ghost ship. |

RE: RE: FPS Lock
Why would you want to break 60? That's what the game is supposed to run at and looks best at.
As I told you in PM, no idea about what's going on in free play, but races are what matter, right? |

RE: RE: FPS Lock
Thanks for the PM. I don't necessarily want to break 60 for play, just found it odd that it seemed limited at that for no apparent reason, as all locks were disabled on my end.
And actually, races are much too easy I like trying to get better at the tracks and learn the handling. There's fun in simply trying to beat times, IMO! |
