Why is v.8 something to look forward to?

I saw that topic where someone was asking for an eta on v.8, which, I know, no asky no telly no knowy.

I'm rather curious why v.8 is worth caring about, though, beyond the regular bits of "MOAR WORKING GAMES!!!" Is something added that I'm not aware of?

Yeah, but if you keep up with the git builds you'll have it before the 0.8 release. (Henrik has stated elsewhere that he'll do a 0.7.5 release first anyways.) So when he posts 0.8 on the official builds list, all it'll be for the people who use the git builds is a change in the number after the logo. Besides that, if you check the pull requests on Github, there are already builds that do audio and video. It just isn't perfect yet.

My only hope is that we don't have to use at3tool.exe on windows builds (which in any way of use is illegal). Better go with AVC, Atrac3 support and implement sceSasSetVoicePCM and leave ATRAC3+ for later.

Hey I would really love the V.8 if the game K-ON Houkago live's BGM problem is fixed ^^

Well, I think its been said that they also are going to improve JIT, especialy on Android/IOS.
