ps4 controller

Hi Everyone
I have a pixel 1 phone and a PS4 controller the new type with the two light on it. I installed the six axis app but could not get the controller to connect to the phone. I then tried to connect with normal bluetooth, this just seemed to work with no dramas, i dont know if the six axis app was doing anything? Anyway, it all worked fine for a few weeks.

Now the controller connected but the buttons do nothing at all. Not sure if i changed some setting on the phone, but I can find anything on the net to help solve this issue. hoping someone here can help. I have also tried the octopus app and external keyboard helper.
