[Windows] Custom controls on pad - vnctdj - 04-21-2013 01:02 PM

Hi all ! Wink

Since the latest builds, a developer has added the possibility to modify the controls on PC version of PPSSPP, so you can choose which key is assigned to each button ! Smile

But the problem is that I play my games with PPSSPP via a PS3/PC pad and I can't modify the controls in order to assign them to my buttons' pad...

So I found a solution to bypass the problem :

You have to get :
  • Xpadder that you can find here.
  • The latest Windows build of PPSSPP that you can find here.
  • The pad that you want to play with
Here we go :
  1. Connect your pad now !
  2. Decompress "xp53c.rar" that you have downloaded.
  3. Launch "Xpadder.exe" ; you may have to run it in Compatibility Mode : right click on the file >> "Properties" >> "Compatibility" tab >> tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for :" then choose "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" and click on the OK button.
  4. Since Xpadder is launched, you have to configure it by creating a layout and then creating a profile (assigning the controls like you want). At the end, it will look like that :
  5. Now, decompress the Windows build of PPSSPP that you have downloaded.
  6. Launch "PPSSPPWindows.exe".
  7. Click on the "Options" tab >> "Controls".
  8. In front of "Force device :", choose "XInput" and click on the OK button.
  9. Now you can load the game of your choice and enjoy ! Wink

The next time you want to play a game, you just have to follow this order :
  1. Connect your pad.
  2. Launch Xpadder (the layout and the profile are automatically loaded).
  3. Launch PPSSPP.

If you have a problem, read all the posts below : maybe someone have already had the same problem as you, if not don't hesitate to ask me in this thread or by PM ! Wink

usb controller has automatic mapping but sadly triangle <-> square , X <-> circle

there is no solution for this

Honestly guys, the perfection is either Xpadder or Joy2key for the digital button functions, and then use the regular xbox 360 pad for the analog. I have to take my hat off and give major props to whoever is responsible for developing the input and control support for this emulator. This is one of the only emulators I know of that allows you to use Xinput *AND* keyboard simultaneously. This was a brilliant decision since it allows us to use Xpadder for our direct input controllers, and xinput for the xbox 360 controllers.

I do have a suggestion and a request for the devs....please add options to adjust the deadzone, saturation and sensitivity to the psp analog knob via xbox controller when using xinput. We can use the analog function which is great, but we don't know how the analog stick is being mapped to the virtual analog psp knob. Is the ratio 1:1? Or does the xbox analog stick move more than it should versus the psp knob? A sensitivity and deadzone option would certainly resolve this question, and it would allow us to tweak the stick how we like it.

lol no , USB gamepad automatically mapping when you plug them into your USB port , using these tools indeed changed the button's function but the original mapping remain unchanged , for example your default mapping is O and you use these tools to change it to an X , when you press the button it ends up you are pressing O and X at the same time lol

and JoytoKey can not mapping D-pad in joystick / analog mode
