Galaxy s7 edge crash - cha0tic - 03-12-2016 02:34 PM

Just the galaxy s7 edge and when I launch any game ppsspp crashes either instantly or within a few seconds. Not sure why, worked fine on my nexus 5 and iPhone 6s. Tested birth by sleep and persona 3 and the issue occurs with both and I'm using the default settings. I've downloaded the latest ppsspp from the Google play store.

Try using latest nightly build found here: http://buildbot.orphis.net/ppsspp/index.php

See if that cures your problem, as a few fixes have been implemented since that was uploaded.

Just tried it sadly it still crashes the same it did before, thinking its a compatibility issue.

Any game? That's weird. Can you get ADB logs?

So far I just tired birth by sleep and persona 3.

I have the Exynos version of the phone and running hola launcher not sure if that makes a difference.
I'm not sure how to get ADB logs.

Edit

Weird enough, I turned on the dev menu trying to find out how to get logs, and started up the games and I haven't crashed yet.

And the issue has returned.

I have the same exactly issue with the Galaxy S7 Edge (Exynos). Sometimes there is no crash without doing anything. But most of the time it just crashed within 5s after loading any games. So far PPSSPP's the only app I run into this problem, other games/emulators are all fine.

Glad to see its not just me chances are it's just compatability issue that hopefully they fix soon.

Hi,

I thought i'd join the forums to also report that PPSSPP crashes on my S7 Exynos device.....the strange thing is, the performance seems to be better on my s6 edge device. So its definitely a compatibility issue.

Will stick to this thread to see if any updates have been made.

Welcomr aboard! Thats odd while i nevsd tested the s6 i can see the difference from my s5, nexus 5 and note edge. I can run ff type 0 perfect.
Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Turning Dynarec (JIT) off fixes the issue but games will run very slow!
Dolphin has the same problem btw.

I doubt its a GPU driver issue, seems more like a CPU compatiblity problem.
I hope it gets fixed soon.

Without JIT the performance would be horrible, hope they fix the issue.

yea performance is very poor, most games are nearly unplayable.

RE: Galaxy s7 edge crash - cha0tic - 03-17-2016 08:09 AM

Give the S7 some love dev's. Maybe they can't do anything till they have a s7 of there own to check the issue out.

Another one crashing here.
On buffered rendering it crashes pretty much instantly after launching a game, when I switched to non buffered rendering it still crashed often at the same spot, sometimes after the initial loading screens. But when I managed to get to the start menu of the game it seemed to work, only played short bursts of the game though.
